Recently, I had a conversation with someone who changed my mindset completely on what it takes to succeed in life. It opened my eyes to realizing what my motivations are. Unfortunately, I've been prioritizing everything all wrong. I haven't been focusing on finding my motivation.
Social media success is very much like network marketing success. It takes patience and persistence to get the results you want. It takes setting goals to make sure you are achieving new heights. It takes finding your motivation to be able to keep going.
Here are my three takeaways from this discovery:
1. Find your motivation. Ask yourself why you're using social media to do your business. Is it because it's where you are most comfortable? Is it because you are passionate about social media? Whatever it is, find the motivation and remind yourself of it everyday.
2. Don't let failure stop you. This is probably the most well-known piece of advice for anybody with a goal. I know, super cliche. Failure can be tough, especially when it's online. Online failure is very public. Don't let that stop you though. Learn from what you did the first time around, change it, and try again.
3. Be persistent. Persistence through failure is one thing, but persistent even when you haven't completely failed is another. Social media takes times to establish and grow. You may have to tweet at 100 people before anyone even cares what you say. It's about establishing relationships and nurturing them. You have to do it daily.
